Missing MSVCR100.dll - Sim4Life fails to start

After installation, Sim4Life or Sim4Life lite fail to start with the error message:

"code execution can not proceed as MSVCR100.dll not found.
Reinstalling the program may fix the problem"

How can this issue be resolved?

Sim4Life's installer automatically copies required dll files. The files are official Microsoft libraries that Sim4Life redistributes. On some platforms, the files fail to copy and this causes the error message to appear.

The solution is to use the official installer for Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Service Pack 1 .
